The Problem
Every builder I know has the same complaint: the places we share our work feel broken. Twitter is noisy. Reddit is fragmented. Hacker News is great but not ours.
I wanted a space where builders could share what they’re working on, discuss ideas deeply, and discover projects worth paying attention to — without the noise.
Why Hacker News?
Hacker News got a lot right. Simple interface. Quality-focused community. No engagement bait. But it wasn’t designed for the ecosystem I care about — indie builders, open source developers, and product-minded engineers from outside Silicon Valley.
AgniFeed is my attempt to build that space.
What I Learned
Building a community platform is harder than building a SaaS product. You’re not just shipping features — you’re cultivating culture from day one.
Some early lessons:
- Start with quality over quantity. A small group of engaged users beats a large group of lurkers.
- Keep the interface minimal. Every pixel of clutter is a reason to leave.
- Moderation is product. How you handle bad actors defines your community more than any feature.
What’s Next
AgniFeed is live and growing. I’m focused on onboarding the first hundred active contributors and iterating based on how they actually use the platform.
If you’re building something interesting, I’d love to have you there.
